More than 12.5 Lakh civil and criminal cases filed over 10 years ago pending before High Courts. Figure soars to over 34 Lakhs at district level.
Supreme Court of India has more than 11K cases pending for more than 10 years.
Total Pendency in Supreme Court cases is of 6.9K cases.
That in High Courts is of over 58 Lakh cases— 41.7L on civil side and 16.3L on criminal side.

Highest number of cases pending in UttarPradesh (1,09,51,028), followed by Maharashtra (4934575).
Supreme Court working with vacancy of SIX judges.
High Courts have vacancy of 334 judges ; Allahabad High Court vacancy highest at 60.
Centre says it has no proposal to reintroduce NJAC (National Judicial Appointments Commission) with suitable modifications.
Presently, ONE Collegium recommendation for appointment of SupremeCourt Judge and EIGHT proposals for appointment of High Court Judges are pending with Govt. 11 proposals for transfer of HC Judges, 1 for transfer of a Chief Justice and 1 for appointment of a CJ pending.
