Online Process to Register your Business in MSME Data Bank, Benefits and FAQ

Udyog Aadhaar is a twelve-digit Unique Identification Number provided by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India for small and medium enterprises in India. It is also known as Aadhaar for Business. Till 17th April 2018 more than 91 lac MSMEs in India are registered under Udyog Aadhaar. On the other hand, MSME databank is a large bank of business data base in India. It helps the MSME to participate in the various public procurement policy of government of India. In order to register under the MSME databank the entity must have Udyog Aadhaar number, it means first MSME must register under the Udyog Aadhaar and thereafter register under the MSME databank.

What is MSME databank?

MSME Data Bank is the leading business database in India and which is a compulsory registration for all the MSME registered units. It is a large database of MSME in India. This database is developed and maintained for the purpose of public procurement policy by Government in which 20% of the procurement for Government projects should be done mandatorily from the MSME units.

Procedure for registration under the MSME databank:

The following is the procedure for registration under MSME databank:

Step 1: Go to http://www.msmedatabank.in/

Step 2: Under Register tab click on “MSME”

It will redirect you to MSME Databank registration form

Step 3: Fill the details:

Once you are redirected to registration form the following details are been asked:

1st enter the below details and click on “Validate details” button

  1. Mobile no of the Authorized Person of the entity
  2. Udyog Aadhaar no of the entity
  3. PAN of the entity

After clicking the button the below details of the Udyog Aadhaar gets prefilled:

  1. Enterprise Name
  2. Category Unit Size
  3. Organization type
  4. Major activity
  5. Communication Address, District, Pin code and State of the entity
  6. Date of commencement of the entity
  7. Email id and Mobile no of the authorized person

From the above given details you will be able to edit only Email id and Mobile no of authorized person

Now enter the below details are above details are authenticated:

  1. Authorized Person Name of the entity
  2. Nature of operation any one of the below:
    • Perennial: When unit is under operation throughout the year.
    • Seasonal: When unit is under operation in one or two seasons only out of the year.
    • Casual: When unit is under operation only when requirement comes, and when there is no expectation of continuing the work
  3. Website details if any
  4. Any special category of entrepreneur like Ex- serviceman, Person with disability, Woman, Minority
  5. Click on check box whether you are registered in the factory act 1948 (required in case of manufacturing unit)
  6. Click on check box whether you the unit is an ancillary (required in case of manufacturing unit)
  7. Click on check box whether you are registered under the shops and establishment act
  8. Enterprise Address, State, District, Pin code
  9. No of persons employed by the entity
  10. Power Load: Provide current power load capacity in KW/HP
  11. Enterprise service description
  12. Major Buyer details of the entity
  13. Turnover of last year (in lacs) of the entity
  14. Details of the Product sold by the entity
  15. Bank details of the entity
  16. Add assistance details if any taken from the below institute:
    • National Small Industries Corporation
    • Khadi and Village Industries Commission
    • Coir Board: Coir Vikas Yojana
    • DC- MSME
    • NIESBUD
    • NIMSME
    • IIE
  17. Scheme through which assistance received
  18. The amount availed from such scheme
  19. Date of assistance
  20. Add details of the association the entity is associated with for e.g. Maharashtra chamber of commerce or Bihar chamber of commerce etc. and date from which such association is made.
  21. Add details of any appreciation or award received by the entity

Additional Requirements in case of manufacturing industries:

1.Are you using Solar Energy? If No, do you wish to use it?   

2.Have you got energy audit done for your unit?

3.Do you have Joint Venture? If Yes, please provide details. If No, do you wish to plan Joint Venture?

4.Are you exporting? If Yes, please provide country name.

5.Will you be interested in foreign fairs?

6.Do you have your own brand? If Yes, please provide Brand name.

7.Will you be interested in availing Marketing Assistance Scheme?   

8.Do you intend to participate in Public Procurement?

9.Do you wish to upgrade Technology? If Yes, Please specify.

10.Do you wish to Import Technology? If Yes, please specify country.

11.Do you intend to transfer your Technology to other MSEs? Please specify.

12.Is your enterprise ISO certified?

13.Does your enterprise has quality certification? Please specify.

14.Will you be interested in Credit facilitation?

15.Have you ever been Black listed?

After above details are entered select the mandatory check box and click on “Submit” button

After the details are submitted Login ID and Password shall be send to your registered mail id

Benefits of enrolling under MSME databank:

Following are the benefits of registering under the MSME databanks:

  1. Helps the MSME to participate in public procurement policy of the government
  2. The MSME will be participating in various schemes arranged by the MSME ministry
  3. MSME enrolled under the MSME databank are eligible to become the supplier of the government

The following are some of the FAQs relating to MSME data bank:

  • Where do I need to register on MSME DataBank?

Ans: MSME DataBank has facility for registration of three type of organizations, namely:

MSME – this registration is for Individual MSME Units.

Association – this link is for registration by Industry Associations.

MSME Development Organizations – this link is for registration by various organizations under Ministry of MSME, like DC-MSME, NSIC, KVIC, Coir Board, MGIRI, NIMSME, etc.

Please register only under the appropriate category applicable to you, else your registration will be treated as invalid.

  • I do not have Aadhaar Number / Udyog Aadhaar Number/ PAN, can I register on MSME DataBank without these?

Ans: Aadhaar Number, Udyog Aadhaar Number & PAN are mandatorily required for registration on MSME DataBank. You cannot register on MSME DataBank without these. Please see the detailed guidelines provided on MSME DataBank homepage for more details.

  • While trying to register as MSME, I am getting the error message “This Udyog Aadhaar Number is already present in our Database”?

Ans: You have been already registered in MSME DataBank. You will receive an e-mail with your login credentials using which you can view & update your information.

  • While trying to register as MSME, I am getting the error message “This PAN Number is already present in our Database”?

Ans: While registering on MSME DataBank we are not allowing duplicate registration with PAN (except in the case of Proprietor Unit). In case you have more than one units, you can add their details later from your dashboard. Login credentials to the dashboard will be sent on your registered e-mail ID shortly.

  • After clicking of Validate button, the information regarding my unit is filled in the boxes below but I am not able to edit them?

Ans: The fields which we are fetching from Udyog Aadhaar Data are not editable since it will lead to mismatch between data of Udyog Aadhaar & MSME DataBank. You can proceed with entering the other information about your enterprise in the fields provided.

  • There are some fields on which I am not able to type?

Ans: Please make sure that you are entering the numeric and alphabet in the appropriate fields. If the problem persists please update your Internet Browser.

  • I have received e-mail containing user name/registration number for the portal but have not received password.

Ans: You will receive a separate e-mail containing your login credentials. Please wait for the same.

  • I have neither received my user name nor password for the portal.

Ans: You will receive an e-mail with your login credentials using which you can view & update your information.

  • How can I update my information in MSME DataBank?

Ans: You will receive an e-mail with your login credentials using which you can view & update your information.

  • After login to the portal there is some information which I am not able to edit.

Ans: Since MSME DataBank is being built in sync with Udyog Aadhaar, the basic information which we are fetching from Udyog Aadhaar data is not editable since it will lead to mismatch of data between Udyog Aadhaar & MSME DataBank.

  • Where can I contact in case of any technical issue?

  • Will I be issued any certificate for registration on MSME Databank?

Ans: No, MSME DataBank is built to create comprehensive database of MSMEs across the country which will facilitate in policy formulation and Public Procurement Policy of Government of India.

  • I am a manufacturing unit but while registering on MSME DataBank my category is shown as Services.

Ans: We are fetching this data from your Udyog Aadhaar, In case you have specified yourself as Service organization while registering on Udyog Aadhaar the same will reflect here.

  • I am a service unit but while registering on MSME DataBank my category is shown as Manufacturing.

Ans: We are fetching this data from your Udyog Aadhaar, In case you have specified yourself as Manufacturing organization while registering on Udyog Aadhaar the same will reflect here.

  • My unit is Proprietorship unit but while registering on MSME DataBank my category is shown as Partnership.

Ans: We are fetching this data from your Udyog Aadhaar, In case you have specified yourself as Partnership organization while registering on Udyog Aadhaar the same will reflect here.

  • I am getting error “Please provide atleast one raw material”.

Ans: You need to provide the details of atleast one raw material being used by you in your enterprise.

  • I am getting error “Please add atleast one product”.

Ans: You need to provide the details of atleast one product manufactured by you. After entering all details please click on Add button on the right-hand side to add the product before clicking on the submit button.

  • I have not received my login id and password through e-mail.

Ans: There is a link (Resend Login Details) provided on homepage of http://www.msmedatabank.in under help menu using which you can resend the login id and password to your registered e-mail id.

  • My registered e-mail id is wrong, I have not received login id and password, I would like to update my e-mail id.

Ans: There is a link (Update e-mail) provided on homepage of http://www.msmedatabank.in under help menu using which you can update your e-mail id and resend the login id and password
