ED & Income Tax raids on Robert Vadra, officers took 23,000 Documents
I-T Department officials said that Vadra had been issued a summons earlier but he could not record the statement due to the Covid-19 pandemic, so the team went to his premises in Delhi’s Sukhdev Vihar on Monday.
The Income Tax Department officers on Monday recorded the statement of Congress’ chief Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law Robert Vadra in connection with its investigation against him under the benami assets law.
While talking to reporters in the evening, Vadra labelled it as political vendetta. “There is nothing to hide…the truth will prevail,” said Vadra.

The department is investigating alleged tax evasion and possession of undisclosed assets by Vadra in the UK.
Clarifying that it was not a search or survey operation, the official said the team was at Mr. Vadra’s Delhi residence only to record his statement in connection with an inquiry under the Benami Act.
February 2019 onwards, the Enforcement Directorate had been recording Mr. Vadra’s statement multiple times, with respect to a money-laundering investigation into some properties located in the U.K.
Denying any link, Mr. Vadra had then termed the charges a political witch-hunt against him.
