No proposal to reduce E-invoicing threshold limit to Rs 5 crore from 1st Jan 2023

No proposal to reduce E-invoicing threshold limit to Rs 5 crore from 1st Jan 2023

According to a recent tweet from the CBIC, although the GST Council suggested lowering the threshold for the issuance of e-invoices to Rs. 5 crore starting January 1, 2023, the Government has not yet issued a notification in this regard, creating uncertainty among taxpayers.

It is made clear that as of 2017–18, registered persons with an aggregate revenue of more than Rs. 10 crore in any prior financial year must use electronic invoicing (see to Notification No. 17/2022–Central Tax dated August 01, 2022).

The GST Council has not yet recommended lowering this threshold limit to Rs 5 Crore with effect from January 1, 2023, hence no such proposal is currently before the government.

Find below the Notification No. 17/2022–Central Tax dated August 01, 2022
