Two Senior Tax Assistants of the Income Tax Department are arrested by CBI
Two Tax Assistants working at the Income Tax Department in Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam have been arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation in connection with a Rs. 60,000 bribe.
On the grounds that they conspired and demanded Rs. 1,00,000/- from the Complainant in the matter of TDS certificate pertaining to Complainant, a Senior Tax Assistant working in the office of Addl. CIT, Income Tax, Hyderabad, and another Senior Tax Assistant working in the Income Tax Department, Visakhapatnam, were each charged with a crime. Additionally, it was claimed that after some negotiating, the accused reduced the demand and asked the complainant to pay Rs. 60,000.
When the Senior Tax Assistant of the Income Department of Hyderabad demanded and accepted his share of a bribe of Rs. 40,000 from the Complainant, CBI set up a trap and caught him in the act. According to him, the other accused’s part was paid online. He also was apprehended. At the accused’s homes in Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam, searches were done.
A private individual and an agriculture field officer for the State Bank of India’s Nowrozabad branch in the Madhya Pradesh district of Umariya have been arrested by the CBI in a separate case involving a bribe of Rs. 10,000.
On the basis of a complaint against a private person, a case was filed. On behalf of the Agriculture Field Officer, State Bank of India, Nowrozabad, District Umariya (MP), it was stated that the accused sought and attempted to receive a bribe of Rs. 10,000/- from the complainant in exchange for the loan’s approval and disbursement of Rs. 5 lakh.
