Whereas the State Government is satisfied that the people of Maharashtra are threatened with the spread of COVID-19 virus especially with the emergence of the Omicron variant, and therefore it is imperative to take certain urgent measures to prevent and contain the spread of the Covid-19 virus, the State Government in exercise of the powers conferred under Section 2 of the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897, read with all other enabling provisions of The Disaster Management Act, 2005, finds it is necessary to amend the order imposed vide reference (e) Department of Disaster Management, Relief and Rehabilitation No: DMU/2020/CR. 92/DisM1, dated 24th December, 2021 to take the following measures immediately throughout the state to more effectively check the transmission of the Covid-19 virus.
Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred under The Disaster Management Act, 2005, the undersigned, in Isis capacity as Chairperson, State Executive Committee, State Disaster Management Authority hereby issues the following directions, that will come into force front 31st December, 2021 from 0000 hrs —
- In the case of Marriages, whether in enclosed spaces or open to sky spaces, the maximum number of attendees shall be restricted to 50 persons.
- In case of any gathering or programs:, whether social, cultural, political or religious, whether in enclosed spaces or open to sky spaces, the maximum number of attendees shall be restricted to 50 persons.
c. In the case of last rites, the maximum number of attendees shall he restricted to 20.
d. In any part of the state which arc tourist spots or other places that attract large congregations of people such as beaches, open grounds etc. the Competent Authority concerned, in addition to the restrictions vide (c) Department of Disaster Management, Relief and Rehabilitation No: DMU/2020/CR. 92/DisM- I , dated 24th December, 2021, may as deemed appropriate, impose Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure 1973.
e. other existing instructions already in place shall continue to be in force till further orders.
