How to update Mobile Number & Email Id in GST?

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched GST into operation on the 1st of July, 2017. GST was publicised as ‘one nation, one tax’ by the government, aimed to provide a simplified, single tax regime.  GST is a dual levy where the Central Government levies and collects Central GST (CGST) and the State levies and collects State GST (SGST) on intra-state supply of goods or services. Centre also levies and collects Integrated GST (IGST) on inter-state supply of goods or services.

GST login portal is a website where all the compliance activities of GST can be done before and after GST gov login. Activities such as the GST registration, return filing, payment of taxes, application for refund, etc. can be done on the GST login Portal. While obtaining registration number or enrolling taxpayers provide email id or mobile number which could be required to be changed later due to many reasons. It becomes a cumbersome process to change the mobile number or email id of primary authorized signatory on GSTN Portal. You will find a step wise process to change your mobile number or email id in GST in this article, which will make your life a little easier.

Procedure if the authorised signatory is the same person as the partner/promoter.

Step 1: Log in to the GST portal and go to Services -> Registration -> Amendment of Registration Non-core Fields.

Step 2: Click on the tab ‘Promoter/Partners’. Click on the ‘Edit’ button under ‘Actions’, next to the authorised signatory, whose details you wish to change.

Step 3: Update the mobile number or email address, as applicable. Click on ‘Save’.

Step 4: An OTP will be sent to the mobile number, and email address entered. Enter the OTPs. The changes made will get reflected.

Step 5: Go to the ‘Verification’ tab. After entering the required information, tick the declaration checkbox, and submit the form with DSC/E-signature/EVC. If the EVC mode is selected, the OTP will be sent to the updated mobile number, which will need to be entered to complete the verification process.

Step 6: You will receive a confirmation message with the ARN number to track the status of the application once it is submitted. Once you receive a message saying ‘Changes Approved’, it means that the mobile number and email ID have been updated successfully.

If the authorised signatory is different from the promoter/there is more than one authorised signatory.
